Living in the Moment
by Richard L. Provencher

TV's tongue is a messenger,
too often reality
conveying hurtful thoughts
to the brain. Analyzing taking place
until that mass of matter decides.
Today's statement
is on something interesting. A story

catches my eye. South of Timbuktu,
a Dogon man sits on weathered rocks
waiting for celebrations to begin.
His Mask Dance a prayer,
protection from the vengeance
of killed animals as he welcomes

rain upon parched plains.
My coffee travels the short route
to my lips. From a soft sofa
I glance at the comforts in my home:
a bowl of grapes await and TV
easily propels me back to misery
that man has to survive in.

Although I am thankful where God
has placed me in this world, I
know He expects me to be
not only understanding the needs
of others, but to pray for all people.
