Are you stuck in a rut?
by Marie Grossett

Sometimes in life we can get into what's called being 'stuck in a rut'. By the grace of God you wake up every morning doing the same routine which might consist of going to work, getting the children ready for school, preparing the dinner and so forth. Doing the same routine can be mundane and it can get frustrating.

Even as Christians we can get 'stuck in a rut.' If we're not careful we can draw deeper in this rut leaving our lives unsatisfied and unfilled. I have often heard other fellow Christians say that we must be content with what we have. Now the statement is not wrong but let's be real, how can we be content if we're truly not satisfied in what we do and want a change?

Before I was running my business full time I use to work in as a Customer Service Advisor. When I would complain about the job to others they would tell me to give thanks that I have a job. I was thankful for the money to pay bills but I wasn't happy why? Because it wasn't something I wanted to do.

I also believe in never settling for anything less and I don't believe God wants us to settle for anything less. I was so unsatisfied with this job I felt like I was 'stuck in a rut.' I could have left but I vowed this was the last job I was going to have I wasn't going to work for anybody again, I was believing in God that my business would prosper and I can do something I love full time. Though I had Christ in my life I felt like I was going nowhere will there be no end to this dissatisfaction? But to God be the Glory there was when I first got my breakthrough in business.

What ruts are you stuck in? It could be your marriage or career. Isn't it time for a change? Now in terms of marriage I don't mean to change your spouse. I do mean maybe you're doing the same routine of sorting out the children, looking after the finances and not having any time for yourselves which is greatly needed in marriage to do things together. If it's your career then maybe it's time for a change, I knew it was time for a change in my career when I kept on moaning about my job and I couldn't be bothered to get up in the mornings to go to work.

There is nothing worst in being dissatisfied and whatever you're unhappy in believe me it's time for a change. You need to first confess what you're dissatisfied in and ask God for guidance as the proverb says 'we must not lean onto our own understanding but in all our ways we must acknowledge him and he will direct our paths.'

Next we must make that first step towards change what is it we can do within our strength to make things better. Together with God and your actions no longer would you have to be 'stuck in a rut' but move on to a better future.
