Doors of Separation
by PamFord Davis

In our generation of cell phones, texting, instant messaging and email, we might assume that everyone is knowledgeable about our every action: where we have been, where we are and where we are going. Friends and family know our daily activities; do they know our hearts? We all have circumstances that trouble us; we hide disappointments behind warm smiles, affectionate hugs and firm handshakes. Nobody knows how we really feel.

We can come out of hiding; it will give others the opportunity to share their heartache too. We may not understand the hurt of another but we can affirm them with love and compassion. "Only the person involved can know his own bitterness or joy-no one else can really share it (Proverbs 14:10 Living Bible)." I want to be a good listener and available to lend support and encouragement; bitterness can be hard to overcome and communication unlocks doors of separation.
