Gods Time-All Things Are Beautiful In His Time
by Ngozi Nwoke

I have waited for too long for a change yet nothing has happened. I am tired of waiting for Gods time. Will God ever answer this prayer? These and many more are statements you will hear from people who believe God for some things and they are yet to receive them. This article is about Gods timing and that things are really beautiful in His time.

The word of God tells us in Ecclesiastes 3:11 that God made everything beautiful in His time. And as Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, there is time for everything under the heaven. God is a God of purpose and priorities and His end result is always for glory and beauty. God is always working on your behalf. When you think that nothing is happening that's when God is putting everything together, so that all things will work together for your good. By the time it's Gods time, everything would have been perfected. Remember the story of Joseph. He had a dream where he was lord over his brothers but he went from the pit, through Potiphar's house as a slave, then the prison as a prisoner before he got to the throne (Genesis 37, 39-42). God does not make mistakes. At the end, all things became beautiful in His time for Joseph.

God is the Alpha and the Omega, that is, the beginning and the ending. He knows the end from the beginning. He sees problems that we can't see. Therefore when God doesn't answer you immediately, it's not that He won't do so (Psalm 37:4) but that there are issues on the way that need to be tackled. Sometimes, it may be that giving you what you want at your time may not be at your best interest. Remember, He is your father and understands His responsibilities as a father.

For instance, a father will never give his six-year old son a car to drive even if he has so many cars in his garage. This is purely because he loves him and wouldn't want him to kill himself. This applies to God too. He loves you and would not want you to crash your destiny or die before your time. That's why waiting for Gods time is the best.

Now, let's consider Abraham.

Abraham was childless for many years and at 75 years, God promised to make him a great nation and that his seed will inherit the land of Canaan (Genesis 12:1-4, 7). But Isaac didn't come till 25 years later (Genesis 21:5). A long period you may say. Yet Isaac came at Gods timing and truly it was beautiful at His time. Why do I say so?

In Romans 4:17-22, Abraham had to be proven for him to be the father of nations and his victory was imputed to him for righteousness. Also, the circumstances surrounding Isaac's birth builds up the faith of anyone who is passing through similar situation and cares to believe God like Abraham did. I haven't heard of anybody who truly believed God and had to wait as long as Abraham did or even more before having a child.

Another thing I love about Isaac's story is that the parents lived long enough to see him grow into a full-grown man. Sarah (who died first) died at the age of 127 years (Genesis 23:1), 37 years after the birth of Isaac. God truly restores the years that the cankerworms had eaten (Joel 2:25).

To wait for Gods timing is not a waste but a blessing. All things are beautiful in Gods time

I personally, also have testimonies of God making all things beautiful in His time. One of such testimonies is when my husband and I believed God for $1000 equivalent in our currency (Naira) in the year 1999. Then, that amount was far beyond us but we wanted to exercise our faith. We believed God for a whole year. Every morning during our prayers we would thank God for this provision. Finally, the money came in an amazing way. We were posted to another country and needed money to resettle in the new place. Few hours before our departure, God sent a vessel to bless us with $1000 exactly. I believe that if we received it earlier we would have spent it and still have had challenge financially to resettle in the new place. Gods time was truly the best for us.

Impatience is a destroyer of destinies. Not waiting for Gods time can cost you more than you bargained for. King Saul, in I Samuel 13, made an unlawful sacrifice because he couldn't wait for the man of God to come. This cost him his throne. Also, when Moses went ahead of Gods time to try to save the Israelites, he had to run away for his life (Exodus 2-3). But when it was time according to God, he went as a god to Pharaoh (Exodus 7:1) and delivered the Israelites (Exodus 14:30-31).

Another example of consequences of impatience is when people are suffering in their marriages because they couldn't wait for God's intervention any longer. They went ahead to marry their spouses despite all checks in their spirit. Some felt they were getting too old while others made their decisions based on their fleshly desires and not the word of God.

Truly, waiting on God will take faith and a lot of discipline but it's worth it at the end. You may not know when or how but your latter end will be greater than your beginning. People may mock and laugh at you but if you will trust God and His word, they will turn around to laugh with you like Sarah. Receiving your desires at Gods time will overshadow the days or years you didn't receive your desires. All things are beautiful in His time.

Before I conclude, I will like to point out that sometimes people are actually the source of delay to their desires being granted. As much as God is interested in satisfying our heart desires, He is more interested in our relationship with Him and our all round growth.

Some of the reasons people don't receive their answers even when it's God timing include:

*People want the created and not the creator. They are only interested in what God can give them and not a relationship with God. Matthew 15:8

*The glory will not go to God. God's glory He will not share with any other. Isaiah 42:8

*Their desires are for wrong reasons. God does not waste His blessings. James 4:3

*Lack of faith and trust. Some people pray without actually believing that God will answer and that disqualifies them from receiving their answers. God needs you to trust Him absolutely. Hebrews 11:6

Gods timing may not be your timing but you need to depend absolutely on Him. He made you and His thoughts towards you are thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). Flowing with Gods time will cause you to enjoy beauty and glory. It may not look like it now, but hold on to the end. God will surely make all things beautiful in His time for you.
