Forgive Me
by Cindee Snider Re

Forgive me!
I've been wrong,
Made assumptions,
Guessed incorrectly
At emotions,
Motives.

Old scars crack,
Spread,
Seep up through
Years of new memories
Butterfly feet of forgotten pain
Perched in shadowy corners
Of the soul,

Sticky tendrils
Clinging close,
Unnoticed,
Nearly grafted to the skin.

Yet there
Is where I choose to be,
To listen,
To hear,
To find the words
When they are few.

There
In the quiet,
In the dark,
Where illness haunts
And loneliness taunts
And pain rises from the mist,

There
Is where I learn
To lay down my life
For another,

For you,

Where sacrifice bleeds,
Costing deep,
And contentment waits,
And purpose unfurls in the
Light of the Son,

For there in the midst
and messiness of life

Is God.
