Loyal and True
by PamFord Davis

Cheerleaders form pyramids, wave pompoms and cheer for the home team. A chill is in the air, as fans fill the stands in support of their school in hopes of becoming state champions; football fans in the Deep South take high school and college sports very seriously. Loyalty is easy to spot by even the disinterested; faithful supporters display school colors and logos on clothing, accessories and bumper stickers on vehicles. "Be true to your school!"

I wonder how true I am to my hometown. "We, however, are citizens of heaven, and we eagerly wait for our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, to come from heaven (Philippians 3:20 TEV)." Football games begin with the entrance of the team onto the field; cheers ring out for the football heroes; Jesus will one day make His appearance and take us to our heavenly home. I hope He finds me loyal and true.
