Common People
by PamFord Davis Do you ever wonder who the average middle-class Americans are? What exactly is the stereotype? Do we fit into a cookie cutter mold or are we real flesh and blood individualists? I recall the song "Little Boxes" from the 1960's music era. It pointed out the futility of living the suburbs lifestyle. Housing developments popped up in a multitude of areas following World War II and one of those eyesores spanned across a hillside not far from my home. Common people called it home. Peter had a vivid vision and learned a valuable lesson on the common foods and people of his day. "Again, a second time, a voice said to him, 'What God has made clean, you must not call common (Acts 10:15 HCS)." The Father repeated His point three times. I, like Peter often need repeated reminders. He got the point. "Peter said to them, 'You know it's forbidden for a Jewish man to associate with or visit a foreigner. But God has shown me that I must not call any person common or unclean (Acts 10:28 HCS)." Common people need uncommon acceptance.
