Spiritual Warfare - the cross
by Michael Hume The strongest weapon in spiritual warfare is remembering that Jesus died on my behalf, and came back to life. That is the starting point of my faith, and the strongest weapon against Satan all through my faith life. The four gospels give accounts of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection. Reading them is what I do when most attacked by Satan. It gives me most peace in the least time. When the snake bites too hard I look to the pole for relief like they did in Moses's time. God said to Moses, "Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and every one who is bitten, when he sees it shall live." Numbers 21:18. Similarly, I am freed from the serpent's sting every time I look to the cross bcause Jesus took the serpent to the cross for me and killed his effects on me. Jesus took every sin, past, present and future, death, and everything Satan does to me on earth to the cross. Selflessly. "He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us, he took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross." Colossians 2.13-15 What God and Jesus did there is a mighty miracle, since it places millions of people in heaven, including myself. "That power is like the working of his mighty strength which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age, but also in the one to come."
