A Perfect Rest
by Deborah Ann Belka Oh, to know the peace of God, to slip to sleep upon its breast to fall into the calm of its caress and find within - a perfect rest. To wait for the soothing relief, from all the years of eroding pain to watch in silence as it ebbs on the tips of each sandy grain. Oh, to calm the rushing roar, that rages through my mind peace asleep on the shore waves for me to come and find. Peace, peace why do you flee, from the head on which I lie fill my mind with your quietness and rest with me until I die. Oh, how I long to obtain, a stillness - too still to hear and then, oh then, my Lord You'll take with it - my fear.
