Life Is Like A Garden

With fall weather arriving soon there has been a change in the church garden. It only requires some watering and a daily harvest of vegetables, as it continues to produce plenty of squash, tomatoes and cucumbers. The garden may provide for us until the time of a heavy frost in October or even later. By then the winter squash will have been harvested and stored giving us a food supply all through the winter to share with others.

The other day in the early morning, while I was watering the many types of summer squash, I noticed the large leaves on the plants were turning brown and dying. The garden was getting plenty of water so I looked under the leaves and there was new growth sprouting up from the roots. What I thought was a garden dying from drought was really new leaves, new blossoms, and even new young squash, just like a whole new garden was planted.

As I continued to water the plants, a thought came over me. It was just like when we decided to follow the Lord and become a Christian. When we put our trust and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, we saw the old leaves of our life fade away and as we began to walk with the Lord, a new life sprang up. "Wow, What a Change", Just like the fresh young leaves, the bright yellow blossoms, and the tender new squash, our life changed as we learned to pray and read God's word.

We see in the Bible, Isaiah 58:11 " And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones; and thou shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not". A Christian life is really life changing as we grow in the faith and come to realize the purpose for our lives.

We trust that this Sunday we will all be in the church of our choice worshiping and giving praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God Bless America
