At Dusk
by Richard L. Provencher

Clouds layer in coloured streaks
as evening signals another day's end

noisy front-end loaders stilled
no longer tormenting an expanse

of primeval timber. Then burnished
pines guard silhouettes atop a wilderness

of ancient sunsets. Sky reddens
to yellowish tinge and from drifting

canoes, our faces lift in awe.
