The One Day Challenge
by David Story

"and be with my wife and daughter, in Jesus' nameA-men."

"Can you back up some?"

"I suppose. To where?"

"Seems to me somewhere in there you asked me to take control of your life."

"Is that a problem?"

"With me, no. But how about you? Are you really ready to let go and let me?"

"I think so. I mean, yeah, I am."

"No. I Am."

Silence.

"I want you to try something when you pray."

"Okay."

"I want you, for one day, to do nothing but praise me."

"I can do that."

"No requests, no petitions. Nothing but praise."

"Not even a 'bless this day'?"

"Not even a 'bless this day'. I am not saying I don't want to hear your needs and desires, I do. Remember, I care about you. I just want you, for one day, to praise me for who I am."

"I'm not sure I can."

"Why?"

"Because no matter how hard I tryI always seem to make itabout me."

"I've noticed that, and it's okay. That's part of our little experiment, to take the focus away from you, and put it on me. I know it might take practice, so pray often."

"I'll try."

"Don't try."

"How can I not try?"

"Simply believe."

"Believe?"

"Yes. Believe. I'll do the rest."

"You'll have patience with me?"

"Always."

Heavy sigh. And then;

"Lord of all creation, Maker of heaven and earth. Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. You and You alone, are worthy of all honor and glory and praise."

"There, that wasn't so bad, was it?"

"No Lord, not bad at all."

"Keep focused on me, and I'll take care of the rest. Deal?"

"Dealand Lord?"

"Yes."

"I love you."

"And that, my child, is the best praise of all."

-----

O God, we give glory to you all day long and constantly praise your name.
