Five Senses of Healing
by Melissa Martin

I put on headphones and hear enchanting nature sounds,
Healing via listening.

I pick wild blackberries along side the road,
Healing via taste.

I hug my grandmother tightly,
Healing via touch.

I gaze into a baby's innocent eyes,
Healing via sight.

I sniff my sister's freshly baked pie,
Healing via smell.

I cry at the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial wall,
Healing via the senses.

I laugh at Lavern and Shirley reruns,
Healing via the senses.

I read the latest Phillip Yancey book,
Healing via the senses.

Melissa writes about the God and human connection and condition.
