Fallen Humanity
by Melissa Martin

You climbed two garden trees,
Then walked on your knees.

With eyelids glued tight,
You drank from the night.

Your poisonous taste,
I did not erase.

Two-sided coin of humanity,
I swallowed your tainted insanity.

Blood from the royal crown,
Soaked the fallow ground.

The lion tortured the lamb.
The ewe seduced the ram.

Dark consumed the day,
Where sperm and egg play.

Sitting in the bowels of death row,
I pardoned your self-seeking soul.

The surgeon died performing a transfusion,
The patient lived on in a state of confusion.

Tell me, what did you gain,
When you buried my name?

Did you even the score,
By shutting earth's door?

Melissa writes about the God and human connection and condition.
