Poisoned Passion
by Melissa Martin

In his jealousy rage, he calls me a whore,
He says I'm unfaithful and rotten to the core.

He says I'm ugly, stupid, and fat,
No other man would want me like that.

When we go to a party, I stick close by his side,
I keep my eyes down to avoid other men's eyes.

I can't wear makeup; he calls it a sin,
If my pants are too tight, I'm trying to attract other men.

Fifty questions at the end of each day,
Who did I talk to? What did they say?

He tells me I'm crazy and going insane,
I start to believe himunaware of his game.

I speak no opinions of my own,
I make no decisions in my home.

He wants sex on demand,
He says that's part of God's plan.

He lives for the day of total control,
He wants to dominate my mind, body, and soul.

Melissa writes about the God and human connection and condition.
