EMPTY
by Habibat Lawal

now that i am young and fresh
so that i can achieve and conquer.
After all that
then i will perhaps come to you
but he says
I love you, I love you Jesus

I Love you, I love you Jesus
now that i am old and gray
and my back can no longer
support me.
When the grave seem closer to me
but he says
I love you,I love you Jesus

I love you, I love you Jesus
if you would only give me
everything i ever wanted
and promise me
a life of no worries
but he says
I love you, I love you Jesus

You love me, you love me
and yet
your heart is so far from me
your thoughts are never of me
and your love
is like a knife
thrust in my heart
and all that is left
is my bleeding heart.
I ask "why my children?"
