Dreaming of Spring
by Michael Middleton

I find myself waiting in melancholy solitude...
swept into that empty in between
and making due on memories,
like November crows.
The harvest is past, and where is spring?
The whole earth speaks of endings,
a brown, cold stillness
without the joy that snow might bring.
Stillness and waiting...
living on memories
and dreaming of spring.

"I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the LORD!" Psalm 27: 13-14
