Perched and Patient
by PamFord Davis

Pretty as you please, the bird in the picture sat suspended in air on a spindly branch, perched, patient and alert. The spiked feathers on the top of its head resembled unruly styles worn by members of rock bands and I sensed an air of confidence and contentment we all long for.

Man does not achieve contentment living out on a limb. "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they (Matthew 6:26 NIV)?"

We hide our valuables; God puts us out on display as examples of transformed lives through Christ Jesus. He does not leave us clinging to a withering branch; instead, He sets us upon the solid Rock and readies us for our moments to soar!
