I SAW HEAVEN OPEN
by SIXTUS ONYEANUSI As I knelt in deep prayer My heart was touched and broken God's Light passed the first layer And I saw Heaven open Oh, Jesus sits on His throne Pearly bright smiles on His face Assuring my glorious hope Pouring me His awesome grace I realized more Jesus loves me I felt His Spirit move through me I felt His living joy within Peace. Chilling peace flowed from Him! His blessings soaked me like rain His mercies came new again I saw Heaven open When my heart got broken The purity of Heaven The beauty of Heaven Its splendours and honours They're high, so high, very high I saw glorious things of God God is Truth, in Him is no lie Oh, I saw victorious men Faithful soldiers of the cross Basking in the bliss of Christ Here now, I must reprove myself Would you end up in the "night"? What should keep you from that light? ("I would not give one moment of Heaven for all the joy and riches of the world, even if it lasted for thousands and thousands of years." - Martin Luther ) All the glories of the world And the beauty of its walls All the riches of the world And the pleasures of its works Never can stand Heaven's joy Never stand Heaven's reward I saw Heaven open And poured contempt on this world Oh, how we have pursed vain things Forsaking eternal things This, to God, is a grave sin To watch His purpose perish For we match to the world we cherish If we see Heaven open If we see Heaven's treasures We will all bow down broken If we see Heaven's pleasures We'll forsake the lust of this world We'll fall in love with Jesus And take His yoke upon us To live, to live will be for Him To die, to die will be for Him Striving with faith in His word Dying with love in His work And great will be our reward I saw Heaven open Behold the sweet beaula ground The glimpse was just a token More of that will yet abound I saw Heaven open Then saw the world is empty The world offers just nothing It's just empty, it's empty It lies in waste-it's rotten I saw a greater Kingdom Where dwells the purest wisdom And boundless holy freedom I saw Heaven open Then saw the world is so dark It's just empty, it's empty It's so poor to not come back I was grieved when I arose When I say empty, I mean empty If you still hold this world so close You've not seen eternity If you still hold this world so dear You've not seen Heaven open You're yet to know the end is near You're still proud and unbroken Thus your heart is hard and blind If you see Heaven open You Must indeed change your mind The whole world is just ashes They see decay everyday They will very soon vanish Its "fine" fashions pass away I saw Heaven open My thoughts and views of life changed My inner eyes were opened What I saw got me challenged I saw, I saw reality The world is a mere shadow Seeking the world is vanity After "pleasures" come great sorrows Must I miss that which I saw? I have made up my whole mind To end in Heaven for sure I refuse to remain blind My heart has now decided That Heaven will I live for I must arise from the dead To live above unlike before Kingdom purpose I'll pursue Putting Christ first as I should Wasting not just one moment Pouring time to seek His face Maintaining a white garment Standing so strong in God's grace I mean, remaining holy I mean, remaining lowly I mean, remaining loving I mean, quickly forgiving I mean long-enduring I mean, being rich in good works So rich in joy, peace and love So rich in faith, virtue and truth Laying up treasures up above Bringing many to Jesus Adding to my crown more pearly jewels Giving even the breathe I take Pouring contempt on my pride Doing all for His Name's sake Letting men take me aride This is virtue, it's Christ's mind Letting go myself ego That I may win more and more Soul winners may not have gold But they have treasures above They shine as lights in God's sight They are treasured in Heaven For the help send forth the Light Plucking men out from fire Bringing smiles on Jesus' face Helping men share in God's grace Walls of fire surround them As they stand fast with love unfeigned None of their hairs falls aground Which Heaven knows not about Though they be counted as fools For having God's will fulfilled Though they be dead for Christ's sake For the love they have for Him That many men might be saved Yet in His Kingdom, they live Faithful is whom they've believed They will live, yes forever They will gather at the river That flows by the throne of God ("People who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives...and when the bubble has burst they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted." - Nate Saint) I saw Heaven open And waved goodbye to the world My soul now cries "Jesus only" I don't see a blocking wall To stop me from Heaven's course Onward, upward with the cross I saw Heaven open Decided to live for Christ Woe, woe, woe upon me, woe If I don't be with Him at last I must not miss what I saw I have a place in Heaven But must make my election sure Let me work out my salvation With trembling and holy fear Standing on true foundation For His coming draweth near Must I miss this Heaven's joy? Will I not the saints there join? The bliss of love I can't all tell What shall I gain from this world? Why should I trade Heaven for Hell? I saw Heaven open And my views changed about life Our worth up there in Heaven It's by how much we've given Giving our lives to God's Son Giving our lives to touch lives Living each day for Jesus Living all days like Jesus For all good works, being so zealous! I saw Heaven open I saw Heaven's glorious light Brighter than the brightest sun Greater than earth's majesty I saw how dark the world is Noisy, empty and confused Living to grab this world's goods Forsaking divine purpose Scrambling for clothes, house, fun, food Holding possessions so close Holding positions so dear Missing their destiny in God I saw Heaven open And saw purpose for living If I live not for Heaven If I live to please myself I have wasted my life-time But if for Heaven-divine I invested all my life Though I suffer 'long the line At last, great joy shall be mine! At last, glory shall be mine! At last, victory shall be mine! At last, I'll be with Jesus! ("There is no greater cure for discouragement, fatigue or self-pity than to think of being in the presence of the Lord one day and of spending eternity with Him. We should make no apology for being heavenly minded." - John MacArthur) I saw Heaven open My hope of glory uplifted Jesus only I will live for O Lord, let my heart not be shifted Till I in your image conform! Let me love you like never before! I saw Heaven open And wished to go home ("He who lays up treasures on earth spends his life backing away from his treasures. To him, death is loss. He who lays up treasures in Heaven looks forward to eternity; he's moving daily toward his treasures. To him, death is gain. He who spends his life moving to his treasures has reason to rejoice. Are you despairing or rejoicing?" - Randy Alcorn It pays to serve Jesus Christ, I'm speaking from my heart...
