You Too Can Be Free
by Deborah Ann Belka

Although they were severely beaten,
their stripes did not reveal . . .
spirits that were broken
by such an unbearable ordeal.

They were thrown into a dudgeon,
and then fastened to the stocks
with their arms and feet clamped
they were left in their cellblocks.

The pain was like no other,
the atmosphere was dark and bleak
but their captives couldn't make
their faith in God's power weak.

They lifted up their hearts,
above their troubles they did rise
and praised and worshiped God
with song and a heartily reprise.

Then the earth began to shake,
the cell doors opened wide
and the power of God's presence
was immediately at their side.

The moral to this story,
whatever prison you may be in
you too can be made free
if you praise and worship Him!

Acts 16:23-26

"And when they had laid many stripes upon
them, they cast them into prison, charging the
jailor to keep them safely: Who, having
received such a charge, thrust them into the
inner prison, and made their feet fast in the
stocks. And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed,
and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners
heard them. And suddenly there was a great
earthquake, so that the foundations of the
prison were shaken: and immediately all the
doors were opened, and every one's bands
were loosed."
