Tenacity To Tackle

How do they do it? The brave of heart stand the test of dance marathons, long distance runs, working two straight shifts or stay up around the clock with a sick child. On one occasion my husband, working as a disc jockey stayed on the air doing a publicity stunt. A nursing student monitored his vitals regularly. Once he felt the marathon had fulfilled its purpose, he called it quits. The stamina of an individual set on a goal never ceases to amaze me.

I must not let fatigue deter me. Intercessory prayer is not an after school intramural sport but a divine call to all within the body of Christ. As Lord, He extends a call to prayer. Are we up to the challenge? We release His limitless power through persevering prayer. "Rejoice always; pray without ceasing (1Thessalonians 5: 16-17 NAS)." That is no easy task but one which I need the tenacity to tackle.

Paul knew the difficulty of being faithful and fervent and practiced what he preached. "we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1: 9b NAS)." I must stay alert, remain watchful and focused. The needs of family, friends and my church are at the head of the list but that is only a starting point. The lost languish. Missionaries muster up courage. I will pray
