Inseparable
by PamFord Davis

Gloom and doom not only rhyme but also seem to be nearly inseparable. We hear the latest news reports of financial woes, government gridlock and crimes. Living under a dark cloud for an extended period is apt to cause a case of negativity in even the most optimistic. Yes, we are living in unstable times.

It is no surprise that times are unstable; stability comes from God alone. We find security in the Savior, stability in a stable (Luke 2:7) The Prophet Isaiah pinpoints a plan for mankind. "Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, And the strength of salvation; the fear of the Lord is His treasure (Isaiah 33:6 NKJ)."

Earthly treasures teeter, topple and crumble. Man's wisdom is finite. True wisdom awaits us. (James 1:5) Strength, stability and salvation spring from reverence (fear, awe) of the Lord. Such treasure is eternal and priceless. Hope and deliverance may not rhyme but they are inseparable and turn dark clouds into rainbows.
