Where are you?
by Chris Umeweni

I have walked with God in my few years of being a Christian and have found His presence the sweetest and best place to ever be. One thing I so much enjoy about His presence is that you not only enter into it but can also carry it wherever you go. It is the best place anyone can ever be full of security. Little wonder the Word of God says:

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust" [Psalms 91:1,2]

This was what Adam & Eve enjoyed at Eden's garden in the beginning before they fell. It was so wonderful that God would come down to fellowship with them. His presence was all the comfort they ever needed.

But there's always the devil who tries to oppose God's plans in the life of a man. He showed up and made Adam & Eve commit the sin of disobedience thereby bringing guilt to them. Guilt so much filled their hearts that they left the presence of God.

"But the LORD God called to the man, 'Where are you?'" [Genesis 3:9 NIV]

It shocked me so much to see God, the all-knowing One ask such a question. Does it mean He no longer sees them? Of course He does but not as the Children He once knew. Sin covered them. They've gone far from Him!

"Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear" [Isaiah 59:1,2]

Perhaps you are reading this and long to abide in God's presence, Jesus is your hope. Yes, He is. His Blood cleanses us from every guilt & sin, bringing us back to God's presence. It's such a Blood that is greater than every sin we've committed. Every genuine repentance always unlocks God's mercy.

God is saying to you now: "Where are you that I may make you a light to your world?" Where are you so that I will make the best out of you?" Where are you?

Oh! How God our Father longs for an unending relationship with Him.
