For All Mothers and Fathers - essay
by Richard L. Provencher

I believe all of us are missing out on the true meaning of Government Honorary Awards, given out to so-called "spectacular citizens."

I think it is time to nominate others and it is up to us to seek them out for special attention, because in my opinion they are also the movers and shakers of our society, albeit less recognized by the media. ie I nominate mothers---who provide the energy in most cases for their family to be stabilized by her love, caring and minutiae encouragement to her loved ones.

I nominate the fathers who struggle with a job, caring for family, volunteering for worthwhile causes and being a wonderful role model for family and community. I nominate the street person, welfare family, or disabled person who struggles daily to survive and yet does so with prayers, help from strangers and knowing if they did not push on, their world would collapse.

These aforementioned folks may not have the eye of the media, but to their friends and family; they are unique, and without them there would be no real society.
