A Prayer of Thanks
by Jennifer Molloy I thank you for my being, I thank you for your grace I thank you for the stars above, I thank you for this place I thank you for the silent place I go, to sit and talk with you To share my dreams to, speak my mind and even question you I thank you for the time you took when I really couldn't see the reasons for the things you do and where your leading me I thank you for your silence, when you wanted me to wait I thank you for your patience when I tried to change that state I thank you for your loving hand for guiding me this way I thank you for the light that dawns just before I turned away I thank you for your answers that come, when I'm ready to receive I thank you for the joy you give when I'm ready to believe I thank you for the pain you heal, when I'm ready to submit all my pain and all my faults that I never would admit I thank you for your loving heart that ached when you saw my tears I thank you for the burdens gone, that I carried for many a year I thank you for your tender touch as you blow my cares away and you forgive me for the things I've done and the awful things I say I thank you for the way you made, when no path could be found I thank you for the courage you gave when my feet were frozen to the ground I thank you for your shelter in the darkest of the night I thank you for your protection, held up by your might I thank you for all the storms of life and what they have taught me I thank you for my faith that grew each time your delivered me I thank you for all the things I've done, that I know I could never do I thank you Lord because I know my strength it comes from you I thank you Lord for the chance you give to turn this world around I thank you Lord when I share your love, with everyone that can be found I thank you Lord everytime a choose to turn the other cheek I thank you Lord when I truly try to help everyone I meet I thank you Lord for your fellowship and your continued walk with me I thank you Lord for your sculpting me into what I need to be I thank you Lord for all you've taught, and how you teach us all to love I thank you most when I prayed this prayer that reached you up above Contact me at [email protected] I am a freelance writer and poet that writes poetry and commentary on my christian life.
