This was one Giant Leap for Mankind
by Jack Vorster

A CUNNING STROKE OF DECEIT
The first two people on earth, Adam and Eve, were just settling in and absorbing the beauty of the special environment created just for them, when another created being, a serpent, sidled up to them to engage them in conversation.

Apparently, the serpent was an unusual animal in that it had a form of intelligence greater than that of other animals created by God. It could be that this particular beast had a very special purpose that of a snare for the final demise of Satan, for the serpent was to become a symbol of evil associated with all that is evil in the millenniums to come.

Furthermore, the serpent was able to talk unless at that time it was possible to communicate by thought, a form of mental telepathy, either that or God had provided Adam and Eve with an "instant" language when He created them, for the task of naming all the created animals were given to Adam. God also uses the term "voice of thy wife" in Gen. 3:17, which certainly indicates speech.

That the serpent was "subtle" is made clear in Gen. 3:1 and for this reason Satan chose to use him by taking control of the mind of the serpent for the purpose of beguiling Adam and Eve. And so the serpent spoke the words of Satan and Eve listened. Satan's plan worked. He deceived Adam and Eve and by so doing gained dominion over the earth. He did not know it then, but Satan fell into a God-made trap that would seal his own fate.

THE PRINCE OF THIS WORLD
Satan became known as "the prince of this world", for he has been in control of the activities of man on this earth ever since that cunning stroke of deceit in the Garden of Eden.

Man, in turn, had given control of his mind over to Satan just like that serpent in the Garden. The very nature of man took on the nature of Satan, that of a condition of sinfulness from which man would be unable to extricate himself.

Furthermore, God condemned man for his disobedience and declared him spiritually dead. Man was now a prisoner of the power of darkness, removed from the enjoyment of fellowship with his Maker. Man was, instead, dancing to the tune of Satan and actually revelling in it and faithfully following instructions to steal, kill and destroy. In effect, after being born of God, man was "born again" to take on a brand new nature that would have the fires of hell as the final resting place.

THE FIRST ADAM
As the offspring of Adam, we have his blood flowing through our veins. It is a matter of "like father, like son" and as such we are as guilty as he is. His condition is our condition and his penalty of death is our penalty of death.

Although the first man, Adam, is responsible for all our woes, he is not going to take the blame for passing on his nature to us and neither is God going to blame him. We are all regarded as individuals that are held responsible for our own nature of sin and we are judged as if no-one else existed. Just think of this billions of people have died as a result of the collective nature of sin, but there will be an individual judgment by God despite the association of man. On the other hand, Satan will make you believe that others are to blame for your misery and will want you to take revenge on anything that moves, including unborn babies, of which 50 million were snuffed out in the United States alone over the last 30 years.

THE LAST ADAM
By his disobedience, Adam lost his and our position of dominion over the earth and plunged mankind into darkness and death. Created innocent, he was "born again" of the devil to become the servant of his new master. "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" (Romans 5:12)

NOW WATCH THIS. Another Adam arrived on the scene about two thousand years ago and made a giant leap for mankind. His mission was to reverse the process, that is, as the new Adam he was to restore life to man through him. Just as the first Adam disobeyed God, the last Adam would obey God. Man would regain his birthright and once again have dominion over his circumstance on earth. Once again, man was to be "born again", but this time to take on the nature of God and have his fellowship restored. "For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous." (Romans 5:19)

Now here's the thing. Just as in the case of all men being responsible for their own condition of sin regardless of the fact that the first Adam pressed the button, just as responsible are all men for taking on the righteousness made available by the last Adam, namely, Jesus Christ, In other words, it is up to us to be "born again" through acceptance and belief in what the last Adam accomplished on our behalf.

There was only one Adam in the beginning and all men emanated from him. They all died together when Adam died. There are many men today and each one is a little "first Adam" that has to decide whether to remain dead or whether to be made righteous by the act of the last Adam. "For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." (1Cor. 15:21,22)

In the above verse we see that the last Adam came with the power of God, for He was God in the flesh and as such He was able raise all the little "first Adams" from the dead, turning them from the living dead into the living. Although created as a living soul, the first Adam died and needed to be quickened by the same power that created him. "And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit." (1Cor. 15:45)

THE BOTTOM LINE
The bottom line is, we either remain as prisoners of the power of darkness or we become born again by the quickening spirit of the last Adam. It will not happen automatically. We either decide to continue living Satan's way or we come to God and ask for transformation through the last Adam.

Here is the who, why, what, where and when picture of the last Adam.

"(God) Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell;
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:"
(Col 1:13-22)

Have you been translated into the kingdom of His dear Son yet?
