A Father And His Son
by Olawale Ogunsola

In a certain city,a great city indeed, there was an aged man who was the founder. He was so old that the airs on his head were as white as snow.
The old man had a very vast compound with a very tall wall that prevented any outsider from seeing the inside of the compound and the house within it.
The old man was a friend to the fore-father of the other inhabitants of this city who had died years ago.Because of the cleanliness, neatness and decency of the old man, none of the dwellers had the boldness to visit him.
The old man had servants that worked for him because he had everything in his command. He sent the servants out to the dwellers of the city as at when due to carry out his instructions.
One interesting thing about the people and the city was that everyone needed one thing or the other from the old man that they could not boldly approach.
The whole land was polluted with filthiness. The sad thing was that no one was interested in his own personal cleanliness nor that of the land.
As a result of this, they devised various means of getting 'in touch' with the old man and all that he had. Some who had their clothes dirty except their cap or headgear was 'bold' enough to come near the back, right or left side of the wall outside.
These were the ones who were the 'links' between the old man and the inhabitants,
These 'links',with their dirty garments, had created so many groups among the dwellers of the land each claiming to be the closest to the aged man,for their selfish reasons. They looked for followers everymhere that need the help of the old man.
The man himself, because he loved the inhabitants, then determined to find a solution to the umpass between him and the people.
It is noteworthy to state that it was the dirtiness of the forefather of those dwellers that strained the relationship between him and the aged man before the demise of the former.
Then he purposed on his own that he will send the only child he had into their midst to restore a cordial relationship.
He wanted everybody to come to him freely and ask anything he/she wants.
So it happened that whoever fell in love with the child will become his friend and will be confident to come into the premises and enter his house.Only that they must obey the instructions of the child.
The provision was not pleasing to majority, most especially 'the links'.Many claimed the aged man no longer existed. Many said he was barren and surrounded himself with servants and that the sent child was one of them.
Some said that there was nothing like a house or anything good inside the fenced house ,except weeds around it-simply because they were dirty and not ready to change for better.
However, those who embraced the child and followed him experienced a new lease of life. They began to drink from the deep well in that compound instead of from polluted and infected streams of the city.
Dear reader, where will you like to belong as a member of the city in this story?
The old or aged man represented God,the Father. The only child represented the
Lord Jesus Christ. The 'links' are the religions of the world and their founders. The world is the great city.
The father of the inhabitants was Adam who lost his esteemed relationship with God. His children (mankind) followed (and still follows) his footsteps,Romans 3:23.
The 'links' who claim that there was no more the old man is the atheist. The muslims says God has no child. Some even say there is no heaven nor hell because they swim in their pool of sins and are never ready to repent of these.
No one can claim to know more than his/her creator.Whoever says so attacks his/her own source of intelligence.
My dear reader, what you can do,see and know is limited.Your sense of reasoning is limited like any mortal person. Why not accept God's provision in Jesus Christ so that you will have a new and better experience on earth?
Therefore, accept the fact that you are a helpless sinner.Confess all your sins and forsake them.Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.Obtain a copy of the Holy Bible and meditate in it day and night.Join an assembly of believers to share the Scriptures together for growth.
Finally,"He who believes in Him (Jesus Christ) is not condemned;but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."John3:18
