I See God
by Denise Pienaar

Early in the morning
When the world is fresh and new,
I see God in the flowers,
All soft and wet with dew.

I look up to the mountains,
Majestic and so high,
And God is in the clouds,
Which come slowly drifting by.

And when the rising sun
Puts warm fingers on my face,
I feel the love of God
Me with tenderness embrace.

I hear God in the thunder,
I see Him in the rain,
And when the darkness starts to fall,
He's with me once again.

He's in the little baby
That has just been given birth,
The puppy and the kitten;
God is in all the earth.

He's in the deep, dark forest
And the river and the spring,
He's even in the jungle,
God is in everything.

I am an IT teacher in a primary school in Cape Town, South Africa. I enjoy writing poetry, short stories and children's stories.
