Couple Plans Late Summer Wedding
by Greg Miller

Renee and Renaldo had been engaged for more than a year, and their families and friends were looking forward to the couple's late-summer wedding.

Renee wanted her wedding to have a Valentine's Day theme. "Valentine's Day is the holiday of love," she reminded Renaldo.

Renaldo wanted Renee to be happy, so he made all the arrangements for the Valentine's Day theme.

The wedding day was a fabulous experience for both Renee and Renaldo. Following the reception, Renee put her arms around Renaldo and expressed her thanks for the work he had done on the special theme.

"Everything was wonderful," Renee gushed. "Thank you so very much."

"You're welcome, Dear," Renaldo replied. "You know I would do anything for you."

"I'd do anything for you, too, Honey," said Renee. "My love for you is unconditional."

For their honeymoon, Renaldo surprised Renee with a multi-nation vacation cruise, including visits to the Bahamas, Jamaica, Martinique, and the Virgin Islands.

Following the honeymoon, Renee and Renaldo began their lives together in a small two-bedroom apartment. Each room was decorated to resemble a scene from Jesus' earthly ministry.

The bathroom depicted Jesus being baptized by John the Baptist. The couple's bedroom showed the story of Jesus sleeping in the boat, then calming the raging storm. The guest bedroom told the story of Jesus walking on water.

The kitchen prominently displayed the story of Jesus feeding thousands of people with five loaves of bread and two small fish. On the front door, Renaldo painted a compelling scene of Jesus' knocking at the door of someone's heart.

The couple dedicated their marriage to the Lord, because they wanted their relationship to please Him. They took turns sharing Scriptures from the Bible and praying during their family devotional time. Renaldo primarily used passages from Psalms and Proverbs, while Renee preferred using the four gospels.

Two of the couple's best friends, Rex and Rexann, began having devotions with Renee and Renaldo on a regular basis. Before long, the foursome began to sense the Lord wanted them to start a new church. They began praying for a good location for the fledgling congregation.

"I wonder where the Lord will provide a building for the church," said Rexann.

"I'm not sure," said Renee. "In the beginning, we could even have the services in our apartment, but we definitely wouldn't be able to do that for very long."

"Why not?," asked Renaldo.

"For one thing, the apartment is so small," said Renee. "We can only have about eight or 10 people in our apartment at once. If the Lord sent us 100 people for one of the services, we'd have to send about 90 of them back home!"
