Burning Love
by PamFord Davis

Elvis Presley fans, will remember his 1972 hit record, "Burning Love." Writers of romantic love songs often use synonyms for fire to express passion: torch song, fire, ablaze, embers, flame, sparks, candles. A burning love, between husband and wife, reveals intimacy.

Keep the fires burning, not only in romance, but also in a passion for the presence of Christ Jesus. After his crucifixion, followers floundered. In grief, fires of faith were dying embers. Two travelers consoled each other; unexpectedly, their risen Lord rekindled the flame.

"So they said to each other, 'Weren't our hearts ablaze within us while He was talking with us on the road and explaining the Scriptures to us (Luke 24:32 HCS)?" I'm compelled to open the Bible, stoke the fires, renew my commitment to Christ, and keep the love burning!
