Gentle Mother of Mine
by lynn gipson

Gentle Mother of mine,
I can hear your voice now.
Calling gentle and soft,
You know I am lost.

Gentle Mother of mine,
You suffered so badly.
At last you have peace.
Will my torment ever cease?

Gentle Mother of mine,
I wasn't with you.
Forgive me my absences,
On your worst days of challenges.

Gentle Mother of mine,
You loved unconditionally.
Forgiving my trespasses,
With you grace everlasting.

Gentle Mother of mine,
Face of an angel surprised,
Eyes always shining,
Oh! How my heart's pining!

Gentle Mother of mine,
I so miss your presence.
Where do I now hide,
From this darkness inside?

Gentle Mother of mine,
I'd give all my fortune,
Just to have you right here.
To know you're so near.

Gentle Mother of mine,
My heart is so broken.
Consolation comes remembering,
Your laugh deep and rumbling.

Gentle Mother of mine,
I now ask God for Salvation.
One day I'll see you again,
Gentle Mother, gentle friend.
