Chains of Reality
by Lewis E. Thomas Do you think America is still the land of the free? Let me take a moment to snap you back to reality. How far do you think you can get in this day of Smart Rockets Without a bunch of Permits stuffed into your pockets? We need a license for this and we need a permit for that We need permission to build shelters for our dogs and cats. We need a license plate for our truck and one for our car We need a license to open and run a Health Spa or a Bar. We need a license to wed and another one to buy Soon we will need a license and a permit just to die! Our grandparents lived when freedom was really free! They did not need a permit to take down a tree. We have sat by and watched our freedoms slowly wane We are the only ones that we can truly blame! We can't even see that we are our Government's slaves I bet our Forefathers are rolling over in their graves. We have become a nation with no virtues or morality "Oh! That God would snap us all back to reality!" Until we kneel at the Cross and get America back on track The freedoms we have lost will never ever come back.
