Daddy and Mr. J
by Lewis E. Thomas

Please Mr. Jesus won't you hear as we pray
Me and my mommy are in a bad way.
My daddy hit mommy you know he's drunk again
Please save his soul and make him our friend!
My mommy and me, we love you so much
Please come and help us, we need your touch!
I tried to crawl up in my daddy's lap
But he knocked me down with a hard slap.
I wanted to kiss him and say "I Love You!"
He yelled "Get Away I've got something to do!"
Please Mr. Jesus talk to my daddy for me
I'm his little girl and I'm only three!
Please save daddy and make him a new man
You're a Big God and we know you can!
Today I walk barefoot because I have no shoes
Daddy spent all our money on that old booze.
Mr. Jesus I wonder who made that bad stuff?
Mommy said it has made our life so rough!
Mr. J asked me "Where did you get that bruise?"
He's the storekeeper who sells daddy the booze.
Mr. Jesus can Mr. J really be my friend
And sell daddy booze that causes him to sin?
We pray for daddy and Mr. J as well
Please save them so they won't go to hell!
