Last Request
by Lewis E. Thomas

This poem is to my precious family that I leave behind
To be read some day ahead after my clock runs out of time.
I just want yall to know that I loved you with all my heart!
I take your memories with me as from this world I depart.
Erica I want you to know that you were always my Special Girl
If I had been rich I would have bought you the whole world!
Jason you were my firstborn headstrong with that Thomas way
I cherished my times with you that always brightened up my day!
Josh you always had a need for the BIGGEST, BADDEST Toys!
Know that my moments with you were some of my greatest joys!
I made plenty of mistakes with yall that later made me sad
Please forgive me; I did my best as I learned to be a Dad!
"I have a Last Request I want to ask of each of you three"
"Seek out the Cross of Christ and there humbly bow your knee."
"Give your heart to Jesus and walk a path of holiness each day"
"Don't let night come and go without taking time to pray!"
"I am in Heaven now; and I am watching yall from above"
"Follow close to Jesus and never stray far from His love!"
"I know that these words will probably cause yall to cry"
"Take comfort that I'm with Jesus in that City beyond the sky!"
"Always be a light for Jesus on the three paths you trod!"
"You will never see me again if you don't follow God.!"
"My place in Heaven will never be complete without your love"
"So make sure you follow Jesus who will bring you to me above!"
Last and certainly not least and the love of my life
Penny owned my heart and there was none greater as a wife!
My brother and my sister, and all relatives not a few
There was never a day that I did not love and pray for you!
"My poems on earth have ended if you're reading this goodbye rhyme"
"I've gone to write them for Jesus in that Kingdom that has no time."
