Let Us Take Time
by Lewis E. Thomas

God has given me a precious family
There's Jason, Erica, Penny and Peewee.
There had been times of divorce and pain
When life was filled with dark clouds and rain.
Then the sun began to shine in my life
When God gave me Penny to be my wife!
Sometimes I don't show her the love that I ought
I fail to tell her of the joy she has brought!
On paper the right words seem easier to find
As they come from my heart & go thru my mind.
Jason is my eldest son I love him much and
Erica so beautiful with her sweet tender touch!
Sometimes a good thing in a small package will be
Like the love we all found in little Peewee! (Josh)
The real key to love I hope we will find
It lies hidden under "Not enough time"
We don't take time to say, "I love you"
Or concerning school "How did you do?"
We don't take time to respond when a question is asked
What if for one of us today was our last?
As we sat and listened to the funeral hymn
Would we wish we had taken time to answer them?
As we sat in church and cried on the pew
Would we wish we had said "I LOVE YOU?"
As we looked into the casket shrouded with lace
Would we recall cruel words that had saddened their face?
As we followed the hearse on down to the grave
Would we remember their hunger for love we never gave?
Let us love each other while we are still here
Let us take time for life is so dear!
