LORD LUST
by Lewis E. Thomas Lord lust deceived me with a smile and a wave Then lust captured my soul and made me its slave. Lord Lust holds my soul with strong fingers of steel When Lord Lust gives command I submit and kneel. I struggle to be free but Lord Lust holds me tight I obey its commands in the dark of the night! Lord Lust is powerful and Lord Lust is so cruel Lust takes a wise person and makes them a fool! Lord Lust has been around since the dawning of time Lord Lust enticed Eve to commit the first crime! Jesus is the only power against this deadly foe Lord Lust screams; "Your mine! I'll never let you go!" Jesus once held my soul in the grip of love I obeyed His commands, was humble as a dove. I was faithful to Jesus, I was strong and devout Until I gave ear when Lord Lust began to shout! I turned away from Jesus to follow temptation afresh Then Lust bound my soul with chains of flesh! My soul cries out bitterly to be free once again To walk with the Master to be cleansed of sin. I know that Lust's path will lead to spiritual death I have got to break free before my last breath! Heavy chains of Lust are locked around my soul The weight of this sin has taken its toll! Jesus is standing before me holding forth a key He's pleading, "Repent and I'll give freedom to thee!" I'm in a fight to the finish for all eternity The spirit or the flesh which will it be? My soul wants to repent, my flesh holds me tight Who will win this battle raging within me tonight? Lewis E.
