Message on a Grave
by Lewis E. Thomas

Friend as you look upon my grave
Weep not for me for I was saved.

My soul is not in the grave below
For I am with Jesus don't you know?

Those bars of flesh no longer hold me
From that bodily prison I've been set free.

Weep for those who have not met death
That have not yet found eternal rest.

Jesus Christ died and gave His best
That we might have this eternal rest.

My living friend I plead with you
Seek out and find this Jesus too!

There's only one way to where I am
You must walk with the Great I AM.

Yes, He alone can bring you here
If Him your path you'll bid to steer.

Soul you cannot walk this path alone
For you cannot make it on your own.

Jesus has walked this path many times
Follow the Master and you'll make it fine.

My friend I'll be watching Heaven's Doors
When you pass thru you'll weep no more.

We shall rejoice together in God's love
When He has brought you to our Home above.
