MOTHER
by Lewis E. Thomas

My mother is growing old
She has wrinkles on her face
There's not another like her
None could ever take her place.

Most won't see her beauty
Most will just see she's old
To me Mom is more precious
Than all the Rich men's gold!

Her strength has gotten weaker
Her pace has slowed a bit
I'm thankful for Mama's spankings
Back when I throwed a fit.

I see Mom with my heart
She's a lady oh so fair
When it comes to Mama
There is none that can compare!

Should the whole world forsake me
My mother would take me in
Because she gave me life
And counts me as her friend.

One day Mama will be gone
I know that day I'll cry
When Mama goes to Heaven
To live with the King on High!
