Brink of Disaster
by PamFord Davis

"She stands at the edge, on the brink of disaster." The cliffhanger statement alerts us to danger and despair. Things in our fare maiden's situation look bleak. Where can she go, to whom can she turn?

"Don't make us pay for the sins of our ancestors. Have pity and come quickly! We are completely helpless. Our God, you keep us safe. Now help us! Rescue us. Forgive our sins and bring honor to yourself (Psalm 79:8-9 CEV)."

God's name and reputation was at stake. "Why should nations ask us, 'Where is your God?' Let us and the other nations see you take revenge for your servants who died a violent death (Psalm 79:10 CEV)." Standing on the brink of disaster? Seek the Master!
