REFLECTIONS of SIN
by Lewis E. Thomas

I looked into a mirror on a bright December day
My face had many wrinkles; my hair was turning grey.

My youthful look was gone lost somewhere back in time
I had given my youth to Satan committing every crime.

Heartaches and disappointments etched deep lines into my face
I had fallen many times while running in life's race.

My greatest fall is the one I remember the most
I took my greatest fall while walking with a boast!

Deep within my eyes in the face in the looking glass
I saw Pride's narrow bridge looking over Dead Man's Pass.

If you walk Pride's bridge you'd better hold your breath
Because this Heavy sin can take you to your death!

Pride is a dangerous path measuring only six inches wide
Six thousand feet below six rocks mingle with the ocean tide.

I had done quite well only twenty steps to go
Suddenly I lost my footing! And I screamed "Oh No!"

I had lost my balance holding to sin's heavy weight
I was plummeting swiftly down to land before Hell's gate.

Jesus walking upon the sea sent forth a marvelous wave
Covering all the rocks Jesus saved me from the grave!

Death reached out for me; Jesus stepped in to block
When the wave receded I was standing upon The Rock!

So to every one I say "Give your life to God!"
He will give you a wonderful, marvelous path to trod.

Serve God from your youth straight through to the grave
There'll be many times when you'll need God's saving wave!
