SCOTT
by Lewis E. Thomas

Once upon a time I met a man named Scott
His breath smelled of liquor like he drank a lot.

To always speak the truth was something he didn't like
He said "I didn't!" when he really dumped my bike.

After a test ride, suddenly sand in the throttle grip
"You dropped it? I asked, "No!" came from his lips!

Four eyes near the scene saw him make that trip
Saw him hit the sand, saw him fall and flip.

Why couldn't he be a man speaking the honest truth?
Instead of telling a lie and being so uncouth?

His lie left with me certainly not the good impression
He could have left had he made an honest confession.

Scott was like any man who hasn't been Born Again!
Without Jesus the heart cannot do anything but sin.

I hope someday that Scott will humbly bow his knee
To repent and ask Jesus to save him and set him free!
