THE DEACON'S FOLLY
by Lewis E. Thomas Listen to me friend please listen to me well Because I have a story a sad story to tell. Listen to me friend please listen to me well It's about a poor Deacon on his way to hell. He met a Delilah and thought she was so fair He knew not that Satan had set a trap there. With lust in his heart she's all he could see He's caught in Satan's trap but thinks he's still free! Ole Satan now has a strong hold on his soul He thinks she's the greatest worth more than gold! This woman that he coveted was a Minister's wife The Deacon wanted her no matter how great the price! It all started with that first lustful stare Satan whispered to him "Your wife don't compare!" Delilah was unfaithful to the Minister and to God She takes the Deacon's hand now with Satan they trod! The Deacon and adulteress both divorce their spouse Death follows with them to dwell in their house! As he lies with her in Sin's unholy bond They betrayed cry tears for those of whom their fond. God wanted him to be the light in his home An example of holiness of God to be known. Many of his relatives in sin were watching his light Trying to find there way to the path they knows right. He turned out God's light now in darkness they dwell He sins in the night while they go to hell. As he took this woman twas another man's wife God blotted his name from the Lambs Book of Life! There's only one way to get his name there again He must forsake her and repent of his sin! They may be in another Church cozy as a bug But God sees their sin that's swept under the rug! Like David with Bathsheba the Deacon thinks he'll get by But God's Judgment will come and the Deacon will cry! Lewis E. Thomas As given by God on 4-20-88 Dedicated to the Deacon...He knows who he is! Based on true events! ... Article Source: http://www.faithwriters.com |
