THE WIDOW OF NAIN
by Lewis E. Thomas

Jesus Christ once walked into the city of Nain
He went there to take away a grieving mother's pain.
The need there Jesus felt to be very urgent
Twas the day after He healed the centurion's servant.
There was a widow there with only one child
He had been a good boy; he had made mama smile.
Now he lay dead and she was all alone
What would this mother do? Her only child was gone.
The funeral march proceeded down the main road
Many burdens had she born, but this was her heaviest load!
As she neared the gate they're stood a man
The procession stopped as He stretched out His hand.
He approached her and said, "Please do not weep"
"Your son is not dead, he is only asleep!"
He walked over to where her only child lay
These are the words she heard Jesus say:
"Young man I say unto you now, Arise!"
The dead one sat up and opened his eyes.
He looked at his mother, she wept for joy
Life was now brighter because she had her boy.
Jesus knew that this mother's burden was too great
He said to old death "You'll just have to wait!"
If you have a burden you just cannot bear
Remember that Jesus loves you, that He does care.
Just reach up to Him for He is so Grand!
He will come down and give you a hand!
