To Touch A Stranger
by Lewis E. Thomas Consider the mission of the one born in the manger Jesus was born to take the message of love to a stranger. Have you ever touched a stranger or an unknown in need? Do you ever try to plant any spiritual seed? I saw a young man with his dog stopped at a store one day My heart seemed to become burdened for him in a special way. Traveling by three wheel bicycle he had stopped for a break It was going to be in the twenties that night for heaven sake! He was dressed in light clothing and feeding his dog some treats I wondered what it was like to be living on the streets. He was traveling from Florida to Louisiana state I wondered what was to be this homeless man's fate? The weather forecast three consecutive nights of equal chill Being on the road then had to be anything but a thrill! I handed him a new testament bookmarked with a twenty dollar bill I gave him my best jacket to protect him from the coming nights chill! I regret to this day that I never got his name I continue to pray for this unknown just the same. I pray that I touched him with an eternal impact That in Heaven someone will say; ("Man! Here is your jacket back!") My life touched his life for only a few moments in time "Lord, let the results be eternal as I close this rhyme." Lewis E.
