Words
by Lewis E. Thomas

Words are powerful and mighty weapons to be used with care!
Words can bring forth healing or words can rip and tear!

Words can start wars and words can bring forth peace.
Words can create stress or give tensions a sweet release!

Words can be used to entice, trick and deceive!
The Serpent used such words to bring down Adam and Eve!

Words can be deadly darts thrown into someone's back
Words can do good or harm and that is a fact!

Words can access Heaven and invoke the Power of God
Words parted the Red Sea and Israel crossed over land dry-shod.

Words can cut much deeper than any sword or knife
Words can inflict wounds we'll carry throughout our life!

Words can make one lift their head high with pride!
Words can plunge someone into suicide!

God used The Word to create every living thing!
The Word made flesh (Jesus) inflicted on Satan a deadly sting!

Words can build one up or words can tear one down
Words can bring a smile or words can bring a frown.

Words can be holy or words can be profane!
If God replayed our words would we be ashamed?

Words should be weighed carefully before we let them go!
Lest they boomerang suddenly to strike us a deadly blow!

Our words are being recorded yes every word we say!
Will our words condemn us on God's Great Judgment Day?

After you finish this rhyme please study my scripture reference well!
Words can take us to Heaven or march us straight to Hell!
