LEN'S LINES -- A Little Religion On A Positive Note By Len Granger

We Are Protected

As we go about our daily lives we see things happening all around us that often are evil and destructive. But our Lord has said in the Bible - Psalm 145 Verses 17 to 20. " The Lord is righteous in all His ways; The Lord is near to all that call upon Him, To all that call upon Him is truth; He will fill the desire of those who fear Him, He will also hear their cry and save them; The Lord preserves all that love Him, But all the wicked He will destroy ."

In our world of trials and temptation we can look to the Lord for all our answers, if we only put our Hope, Trust, and Faith in our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is also most important that we have protection here on earth which is given us by our government at all levels; Nationally by our Armed Forces and locally by our police departments. As they protect us we pray that they look to the Lord for His guidance. However, we still have the right to bear arms, as our police cannot be everywhere, so we should also be wise as a serpent --and harmless as doves.

Recently, I was looking in some of the old fishing tackle boxes I had collected over the years. As a tackle store owner, widows would bring in fishing tackle that had been in storage for years and I would buy it or trade for fishing gear they wanted to give a relative. In one green metal tackle box I discovered a set of brass knuckles, often used to fight with hands, that must have been from the 1940's era. Wow, they are illegal to have in my possession, so my first thought was I will take them to our police department and turn them in. I had seen our Police Chief of Dixon, visiting different churches when I was delivering garden produce from our Church Garden , to local churches. I hoped he would not arrest me for having possession of the brass knuckles.

So I hastily made a trip to the Police Department and gave them to the Christian police chief as I did not want them to fall into the wrong hands. He thanked me and we talked about the history of the brass knuckles, and that he seen them years ago as a police officer, but the new officers had not; so would put them on display. I told him, I felt much better having delivered them and appreciated having a caring compassionate Christian Police Chief. Our Police chief is a prayer warrior in every way and he asked if we could pray before I left? It was a blessing as we prayed and thanked the Lord for the many Physical, Material, and Spiritual Blessings He gives us daily. Yes, the Lord is there to protect us and He guides our local authorities who look to Him for guidance.

Trust this Sunday we will all be in the church of our choice, singing and worshiping our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

God Bless America
