Forgiving yourself and Jesus
by Janet Riley

How do I forgive myself when I have been too stressed out and got angry? When I believed more demands were being placed on me than I could handle. When my husband is in hospice and I have other demands on my time.

Forgiveness and preventing anger are related. I need to remember that God forgives me, so that I can forgive myself. That is the hard part, forgiving myself for not being the perfect Christian and trusting God instead of getting stressed.

I have to ask God for His Grace to forgive myself.

1. God forgives me.

2. I forgive myself.

3. I forgive the circumstances that got me upset in the first place.

My husband did not plan to get sick and become a hospice patient. Life does not cooperate and have one event happen at a time.

One event does not get nicely resolved before another occurs. That may happen in movies, but not in real life.

Jesus never said we had to be perfect. He accepts us as we are, where we are in our spiritual walk. He forgives us. Why is it so hard to forgive ourselves for not being perfect?

Jesus is the perfect example of forgiveness. He forgave Peter for denying Him three times. He forgives us, when we repent and ask for His mercy and grace. Ask Jesus for the grace to forgive yourself, as He has forgiven you.
