The Scrooge of Thanksgiving
by PamFord Davis I am well acquainted with the "Scrooge" of Christmas past, present and future. He pops up when least expected. I'm quite sure he even makes uninvited appearances far in advance, crashing Thanksgiving Day parties, with one goal in mind. He puts a damper on dinners, in hopes of making us grumble instead of giving thanks. "And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 'I have heard the grumblings of the sons of Israel; speak to them, saying, At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread; and you shall know that I am the LORD your God (Exodus 16:11-12 NAS)." Scrooge knows my propensity to grumble. Unwittingly, he keeps me humble.
