The Intersection
by Jeff Ferris Is anything too hard for the Lord? (Genesis 18:14 KJV) Telling the miraculous is often challenging, even though the stories are true. Capable writers and competent speakers grapple with ways to convey that which could only be categorized as bizarre. This might be one of those instances. You be the judge. It happened many years ago when Ginny Ferris of Toledo, Ohio was shuttling her three children to school in Temperance, Michigan. Northbound in her family minivan, Ginny made her normal stop at the usual intersection. As always, she looked right and then left before proceeding. For some reason, she failed to notice the approaching westbound vehicle. Her two daughters saw it, but by the time they realized their mom was accelerating forward, it was too late for them to say anything. Where there should have been the sound of a horrible crash, there was only peaceful silence. Everything seemed commonplace except for the cool, tingling sensation that filtered through their minivan. Inadvertently, as she crossed the intersection, Ginny looked to her left and observed the back-end of the vehicle that had been blindly approaching from her right. "Mom, what just happened?" "Didn't you see that other minivan?" No, she had not. That is, not until it had defied the laws of physics and passed through her own vehicle! When you consider the involvement of a God Who made the sun to "stand still" for nearly an entire day [Joshua 10:12 & 13], when you ponder a God Who sent flaming horses and a chariot of fire to take up the prophet Elijah in a whirlwind [II Kings 2:11], when you reflect upon a God Who gave verbal abilities to a mule [Numbers 22:28], maybe this story isn't so bizarre after all. Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
