UP, UP AND AWAY
by Donald Standeford

When I think if I had been strong
Of the paths I might have gone,
Second base for the L.A. Dodgers,
Jet pilot in the Air Force,
President of the United States;

So often I want to erase the good
In me; weakness, you are a part
Of me, perhaps the strongest part,
Perhaps the better half, perhaps
You have made me strong, perhaps

I am better having known you,
My weakness, better always my future
Than my past; and in closing
I just want to take the time to say,
"It's going UP, UP AND AWAY;

IT's GONE!"
